Bring Them to Bliss

Innovative companies hire innovative employees and they know that those creative minds can produce profitable results for their bottom line. Today’s progressive companies take care of their employees by creating a culture within the workplace that fosters a healthier, less-stressful atmosphere....a place for growth.

Businesses across the U.S. that are known for nurturing employee growth include, not surprisingly, Google and Apple.  David Palmer, inventor of the first massage chair, said, “Jobs nurtured an employee-centric environment.  He rejected the idea of a personnel department and instituted a human resources staff charged with creating a workplace that was inviting, exciting, and supportive.  Apple employees were expected to work 60 hours a week or more, but Jobs wanted them well taken care of.”

I’m proud to say that more Birmingham companies offer solid, tangible employee benefits these days and are noticed for establishing a healthy workplace culture. Every year the Birmingham Business Journal recognizes a select group of local companies that foster employee growth during their “Best Places to Work” and  “Healthiest Employers” events. Recent recipients offered perks such as a game room, gym memberships, chair massage, pet friendly policies and fun team events.  So you could say when it comes to thinking outside the box, Birmingham gets it.

As a business owner it’s important to remember that employees are a company’s most valuable asset. If you are not taking care of your employees, you’re not taking care of your business.
